In Spanish the letter v is pronounced like the letter b

How can we differentiate between them?

Hi, Mohammad:

Both "b" and "v" are pronounced the same. If either one is between vowels, it is pronounced more like the English "V." hablaba aventura íbamos.

In hablaba the second "b" is pronounced much like the English "v".

In aventura and íbamos, both the "v" and the "b" are pronounced the same, much like the English "v".

The main difference is that the "v" is pronounced by lightly pressing upper and lower lips together. In English, the lower lip is pressed agains the upper front teeth.

The "b" and "v" in all other positions is pronounced much like the English "b" only a tiny bit softer. The "b" and "v" at the beginning of a breath group will also have this sound.

I hope I have made this clear. It's a lot easier to demonstrate than to write about it. smile

Actually YEs. Both are pronunced the same.

In some places of Spain like Valladolid still is pronunced diferent.

The pronunciation of the v was softer than b. with the teeth on the lips and the b was made closing the lips.

I'm sorry but there is not rules to write with b or v. I can only guive you a few pautes.
