Please help translate "Igual se ha olvidado de llamar"

Question

Hola!

I'm trying to work out what the English translation of this phrase:

"Igual se ha olvidado de llamar"

Would it be "It's like he forgot to call" or "It's as if he forgot to call" perhaps?

From what I know, 'igual' has the same meaning as 'a lo mejor' o 'quizás´, so I´m not sure whether 'anyway' is a good translation. - latte_art, Sep 9, 2015

It is a colloquial use of the word "igual", and means maybe, as Winkfish said.

Maybe he forgot to call.

It is more used as a form of self-deception. Perhaps I have evidence to think that "He just didn´t want to call", but I try to find an excuse: "Maybe he forgot to call": Igual se ha olvidado de llamar.

In the SD translator, one of the meanings is "maybe."
