Toiletries

Hi Friends,, there are two expressions that I have encountered in Spanish to refer to the toiletries ...

  1. Los artículos de tocador.
  2. Los artículos de aseo.

So I am a little confused as to weather they mean the same thing or is there some difference between the two .. and are there some other nice words or expressions to refer to the toiletries.

Thanks Jimmy

English correction. "Weather" has to do with climate, hot and cold, etc. "whether" is the word you want--usually translated by "si" (no accent) in Spanish. - Daniela2041, Sep 6, 2015
Thanks Dani, I am horrible with spellings .. hehe - Joydeep_Singh, Sep 6, 2015

artículos de tocador = artículos de aseo personal

artículos de aseo = anything that helps in cleaning the house.

Thanks for picture that clearly shows what a tocador is. Unfortunately, Missy needs mucho tocador to look, er, halfway reasonable. lol - Sassette, Sep 6, 2015

Hola Jimmy

From my dictionary.

tocador - sustantivo masculine

1 (mueble) / dressing table

2 (cuarto) / dressing room

de tocador / toilet

un juego de tocador / a toilet set

tocador de señoras / powder room

aseo sustantivo masculine

1 (limpieza) / cleanliness

¿Dónde están los aseos? / Where are the toilets, please?

toiletries - sustantivo [plural] = artículos de aseo

En España los artículos de tocador son los que usan ,principalmente, las mujeres para ponerse guapas. Por ejemplo: Lapiz de ojos , pinta labios, colorete, cepillo, perfume.

Los artículos de aseo son los empleados en la higiene personal. Por ejemplo: jabón, desodoeante, compresas.....

Los artículos de limpieza serían los empleados en la limpieza e higiene del hogar.

In Spain toiletries are those used, mainly , for the women to become beautiful . For example: eye pencil, painted lips, blush, brush...

And toilet articles are those used in personal hygiene. For example: soap, deodorant, compresses . Cleaning supplies would be employees in the cleaning and household hygiene.

Note: I don't know exactly how to say in English pintalabios., lapiz de ojos.... so I have translate it literally. Any help would be wellcome
