Well, sorry I didn't read your question which you stipulated briefly .. hehe .. you asked "How to use it" .. well my friend .. "A lo mejor" means maybe or perhaps ..and parece obviou .. would translate as "it seems obvious" .. so you can use it anywhere where you would use a similar construction in English .. for example ...

Maybe it seems obvious but it is not so .. A lo mejor parece obvio pero no es así

Well, that was one example exhibiting the usage .. rest lets wait for the Big boys and Gals (our native friends) .. they may be able to provide you better examples .. I am not a native .. so there is only so much I can do .. hehe .. Adios.

Another translation for "a lo mejor" is "it's likely" or even "probably"

A sentence using this phrase was written by rac1 on her word of the day thread 31 August. Is that where you saw it?

It helps if you can provide context.

I notice this is your first post - congratulations.

Can you now add your language level in Spanish and English to your profile? It is a helpful guide to anyone answering. Thanks.

In any event, "at best" could be used, right?

It would mean .. "may be it seems obvious" .. or "maybe it seems apparent" ..

but as Mardle said .. it is always better to provide the context as languages are not born with divine precision and context in which a word or phrase may be used may make a lot of difference to its meaning .. but roughly this is what it means (what I just answered above)..

Welcome to the forum and kindly fill out your profile .. so the members know your level of proficiency in both English and Spanish and try to help you accordingly ..

Gracias Amigo/Amiga,

Hasta luego, Jimmy
