Tune, as in tune the ear

Tune, as in tune the ear

Amigos, I'm trying to figure out how to say "tune the ear" in the context of being able to listen to spoken Spanish. "Afinar" is how we would "tune the guitar" so would I use afinar? Or sintonizar or ajustar?

My example would be "I need to tune my ear to listen better."

My try is: "Tengo que afinar mí oreja escuchar mejor."

Thanks
