- bosquederoble, Sep 1, 2015
Estoy de acuerdo Bosque. :) - ian-hill, Sep 1, 2015
No, no decimos "much grains of sand." - jtaniel, Sep 1, 2015
Es la verdad- sand, sí, grains of sand, no. "There was not much sand on the floor" - I only like it negative, otherwise I want a lot- "there was a lot of sand on the floor". - bosquederoble, Sep 1, 2015

'Many' generally implies a countable number of something, even if it is not specifed.

'Much' is a great quantity of something, perhaps not countable. "It was all too much for me."

'A lot' could be either.

Considered together, they're all kind of mushy in meaning, much of a muchness.
