How do you say "I am from" in Spanish without soy?

I need to write about where I'm from in Spanish class without using soy.

There are other verbs you can use, such as...

Provengo de xxx.

Nací en xxx.

Although saying Soy de xxx is probably the most common one.

Hi: "g" followed by a "u" gives it the hard sound as in "Go". I'm not even sure that "guiñador" is a real Spanis word. I just made it up from the verb form. - Daniela2041, Aug 28, 2015
