- Daniela2041, Aug 26, 2015
http://tip.dis.ulpgc.es/numeros-texto/default.aspx agrees with you, if I managed to put this huge number in right.. - annierats, Aug 28, 2015
Gracias, Annie. - Daniela2041, Aug 28, 2015

I agree with Danielas for 8.098.000

But if you read 8.098 million as

8.098.000.000

It would be

ocho mil millones noventa y ocho millones

According to this site:

http://www.spanish411.net/Spanish-Number-Translator.asp

But

ocho mil noventa y ocho millones

according to this one:

http://spanishlearninghacks.com/spanish-numbers/

At least in parts of the world that think a billion is a million million, and not a thousand million like is done in the US.

Here is an example from our site, that uses the format of the first:

http://www.spanishdict.com/topics/show/25

78.902.465.231

setenta y ocho mil millones novecientos dos millones cuatrocientos sesenta y cinco mil doscientos treinta y uno

The spanishlearninghacks site´s variant is better, which is the same as Txelis commented for the metric form using decimals in place of commas. There is no need to repeat "millones" - 005faa61, Aug 26, 2015
Thanks Julian, it is hard to judge when two are different, but if both you and txelis like that one, I would consider it the standard. - bosquederoble, Aug 26, 2015
I used decimals. ¡Ponte los anteojos, hombre!♥ - Daniela2041, Aug 27, 2015
Huh? I used decimals too- I agreed with you for 8 million ninety eight thousand, but also wanted to give the answer for us 8 billion 98 million, which in British is eight thousand and 98 million- which might be what he is asking. - bosquederoble, Aug 27, 2015
I should have capitalized US- in American English a billion is a thousand million, in British English to my understanding it is a million million. No one is arguing with your correct answer, just providing alternatives if he meant a different number. - bosquederoble, Aug 27, 2015

Sería "ocho mil noventa y ocho millones"

Edit:

What Daniela states "Ocho millones, noventa y ocho mil.

8.098.000"

Is completly right, indeed. If that would have been the number asked by the OP. Instead, it was 8.098 millions.

C?

It is interesting that one of the links I provided has an answer that no one agrees with. :) - bosquederoble, Aug 27, 2015
The one with the extra "million" in it? Would that tell you anything? ;^) - chileno, Aug 27, 2015
Read my edit please. - chileno, Aug 27, 2015

I agree with Daniela. But here in Baja the government puts up a sign for every project it does and they always put what the project costs. They use the following format 87 mdp. mdp = millones de pesos, mdd = millones de dolares.

What if it's just an abstract number or if you're talikng about millions of people, for example? The format I'm using here is the norm for all college Spanish texbtooks. - Daniela2041, Aug 26, 2015
Hey. I agreed with you. I am only showing how it is actually presented in Mexico in an accepted manner. Not everything works in real life like it does in textbooks. - gringojrf, Aug 26, 2015
OK, got it, sorry! - Daniela2041, Aug 27, 2015
No hay problema. I like to give a real life prospective when I can. Being lucky enough to live in Mexico lets me share things that aren't in any book. Right or wrong. Just real life. - gringojrf, Aug 27, 2015
