Question

This idea is to find “pairs of words” and say why we prefer one to the other in English and Spanish.

Example: Apples or Pears.

I prefer the taste of good pears.

..

Example: Love or friendship.

I prefer friendship because it can last a lifetime from the earliest years.

Your sentence does not need to be true or sensible.

Té o cena / Tea or dinner...

En Bretaña hay mucha variedad con respeto a los nombres que la gente usa para describir comida, sobre todo el plato principal del día. Para muchas personas es el 'té', aunque para otras es la 'cena'. Para mí es la cena poreque el té es algo que bebo.

En Escocia '¿ habrás tenido tu té ?' es una pregunta muy común que no quiere decir mucho en inglés porque utiliza una antigua gramática escocesa, pero quiere decir '¿ ya has cenado ?'. A las abuelitas les gusta decirlo mucho.

In Britain there's much variety with regard to the names that folk use to describe food, particularly the main mean of the day. For many folk this is 'tea', while for others it's 'dinner'. For me it's dinner because tea is something I drink.

In Scotland 'ye'll have had yer tea ?' is a very popular question which doesn't really make sense in English because it uses an old form of Scots grammar, but it means 'have you already dined ?'. Grannies like to use it a lot.

I can't decide, I like them both although I see a lot more sunsets than sunrises.
