Welcome to the forum.

We do not do your homework for you. When trying to do a question like this- the first thing to do is note that you have yo right before the blank- so you will need to conjugate to that (even without yo, you should be able to guess that as it is hiciste in the question). The next is to note that the prior use of hiciste, and the answer beginning with el verano pasado tells you that you will need to use preterit. So all that is left is to pick which verb would work best for the meaning of the answer, and conjugate it to the yo preterit form.

If you make an attempt someone can help steer you right.

Tricky answer.

In some places we would say "estuve" ("I was", but in a sense "passive", meaning "resting"), while in other regions people would say "anduve" ("I was", but in a sense "active", meaning staying in touch with the place I visited).

Whatever the answer is, it's not as bad as the terrible fact of repeating what the other person asked. I understand this is for school purposes, but in a conversation avoid repeating what was asked (is like in English: if someone inquires your age, you only say "I'm 22", and that's it, no need to say "I am 22 years old", unless the other person has a very short memory).

I would have said "fui", as it is "a la playa" and have chosen "estuve" to match with "en la playa". Is that wrong? - bosquederoble, Aug 25, 2015
