I really means "to commit oneself to" It the common verb for "to get engaged."

Now that I have answered your question, could you please "commit yourself" to filling out your profile, especially gender and language proficiency in Spanish and English.

"comprometerse a completar el perfil". A eso se le llama no perder comba. muy buen aprobechamiento del término. Me quito el sombrero - 000a35ff, Aug 23, 2015
And our English word from the same (or similar) roots "compromise" is a totally false friend. - Jubilado, Aug 23, 2015
@Jubi: You're right, as usual, but in California Spanish, because of the English influence I'm beginning to hear it used in that way. - Daniela2041, Aug 23, 2015
