There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

I'm so lost. This city is like a labyrinth!

2.
Le voy a construir un laberinto a mi hámster para que se entretenga.

I'm going to build a maze for my hamster to keep him busy.

Mi mente es como un laberinto donde los pensamientos a veces viajan alrededor de esquinas interesantes e imaginativas y a veces llegan al callejón sin salida. Esto es conocido como bloqueo de escritor.

My mind is like a labyrinth where thoughts sometimes travel around interesting and imaginative corners and sometimes come to a dead end. This is known as writer's block.

Un tenebroso laberinto subterráneo se ha ido formando a lo largo de los siglos gracias a la erosión provocada por las corrientes naturales de aguas termales de Budapest. Durante su historia ha servido de cárcel o como caja fuerte. Y durante la II Guerra Mundial fue utilizado como bunker, centro de operaciones e incluso hospital.

A dark underground maze has been formed over the centuries by erosion caused by the natural currents of hot springs in Budapest. During its history it has served as a prison or as safe. And during the Second World War it was used as a bunker, and even headquarters and hospital.

Los aeropuertos grandes son laberintos. La vez pasada tuve que caminar un poco, luego tomar un cinturón móvil, luego tomar un tranvía, luego una escalera mecánica, luego caminar otra vez para ir de una puerta al otra.

Large airports are mazes. Last time I had to walk a little, then take a moving belt, then take a tram, then an escalator, then walk again to go from one gate to another.

I remember the days when I used to go to the airport for fun: to get the exercise and watch the planes. After 9/11, those days came to an abrupt end with strict regulations on who can be in the airport. - Sassette, Aug 19, 2015
And then they tellyou, go to gat3 55 C.. But where on earth is gate 55 C_ Panic sets in, you run and run.. Very good for the heart and lungs, no doubt. - annierats, Aug 19, 2015

El laberinto del fauno es una de mis pelis favoritas en el idioma español, aunque sólo pueda entender a uno personaje: el fauno...

Pan's Labyrinth is one of my favourite films in the Spanish language, even if I can understand only one character: Pan...

Quizá soy demasiado viejo, pero creo que para abrir un envase moderno es más complicado de lo que es navegar andar por un laberinto.

Maybe I'm too old, but I think to open modern packaging that is more complicated than it is to navigate a labyrinth.

¿Has tratado alguna vez de navigar los pasillos de un hospital? Son laberintos imposibles.

Have you ever tred to navigate the corridors of a hospital? They are impossible labyrinths.

¿Por qué hay un laberinto en la catedral de Chartres? Dicen que es para ejercicios en meditación. He caminado en uno pero no en Francia. En realidad nuestra vida es más como un laberinto que una línea recta.

The Maze

In the goose game, if you land on the Maze of space 42, you lose one turn and go back to space 30.

El laberinto

En el juego de la oca, si caes en el laberinto de la casilla 42, pierdes un turno y regresas a la casilla 30.

Cuando mis hijos eran muy jovenes fuimos al cine para ver una película llamada El laberinto,. No fue un gran éxito, mi hija echó a llorar a lágrima viva cuando se dió cuenta de que los niños de la peli se habían perdido en un laberinto espantoso. Tuvimos que salir del cine y volver a casa para darle una taza de chocolate caliente a nuestra hija.

When my children were very small we went to the cinema to see a film called The Labyrinth. It was not a great success, my daughter burst into floods of tears when she realized that the children in the film were lost in a frightening labyrinth. We had to leave the cinema and return home in order to give our daughter a cup of hot chocolate.

Hace muchos años, durante nuestra luna de miel, mi esposa y yo vagamos por un laberinto en un jardín que visitamos, pero de lo que recuerdo no era muy difícil encontrar la salida. Aunque hemos regresado a esa ciudad, nunca hemos regresado volvimos a ese jardín.

Many years ago, during our honeymoon, my wife and I wandered through a maze in a garden that we visited, but from what I remember it was not very difficult to find the exit. Even though we have returned to that city, we never have returned to that garden.
