Mexican Diminutives

I´m currently living in Mexico and I already have the basis of of the use diminutives: ito, illo, ico, sito...etc. However, there´s another one! And I´m just here to ask when it can be used and when it CANNOT. This is 'is' or 'chis':

For example: Martuchis (Martha) Gordis (gordito) chistis (chistosito) por fis (por favor)

Can I say Felix cumplis?

Can you think of other examples?

"ín" is also used. I have a friend Héctor who I always call "Hectorín". I used to have a cat that was little, I called him "chiquitín".

You can say "feliz cumplis" but not "Felix ..." This is a guy´s name.

The opposite of the diminutive: "ón" and "ote": Ese muchachón es bien machote.

This is 'is' or 'chis':

Are these actually diminutives?

You make a good point. They are probably not diminutives as far as making something smaller, but they are certainly endearments - 005faa61, Aug 14, 2015
