Hoy en día funciona como un templo católico, la iglesia catedral de la diócesis de Córdoba. Está declarado Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad. La vista exterior es menos impresionante que la de, por ejemplo, la Alhambra en Granada , pero el interior es fabuloso con sus 850 columnas de marmol de varios siglos.
