how do I get my Dominican accent back?
I am a afro-domimican girl. My father is Dominican and Haitian and my mother is full black. When I was little (1-8 years old) I lived with my father and we spoke Spanish almost evertime. I was in New York so I knew fellow Dominicans which made me speak Spanish even more. However, I moved to Chicago at 9 and I lost my accent after 13 because I was speaking English so much. I still know how to speak spanish: but how do I gain my accent back? I lost my accent so much that I sound like I've never spoken Spanish before In my life! Plus since I've been here I have found that I like Mexican Spanish More because of the flow. What do I do?Por favor, conteste en español también!

Lo único que puedo sugerirte es que te pongas en contacto con otros dominicanos si los hay en tu ciudad. Pero como te gusta el español de México, esto está bien. Los mexicanos hablan un español muy bonito a mi ver. Sería chévere hacer una visita a la República. Me dicen que es un lugar hermosísimo.

Si hay películas en castellano que sean dominicanas, lo que puedes hacer es ver una película, una y otra vez, hasta que no haya palabra que no entiendas. Entremedio puedes leer en voz alta una hoja de un libro o un artículo del periódico imitando el acento que escuchas en la película, sea esta dominicana o mexicana, mientras te grabas y después tienes que escucharte y tratar de enmendar tu errores has que de a poco vaya escuchándote que estás pronunciando con el acento que quieres.
No es difícil, pero tienes que tener paciencia especialmente contigo misma.
los Dominicanos abrevian las palabras, al final le colocan la letra L, yo soy de Guatemala, mi acento es diferente
