Predicate indicative tense is a new one on me. Do you mean preterite tense, indicative mood?

If you follow the link rac 1 provided, you will find the conjugated verb. It looks to me as if your sentence demands the imperative rather than the preterite or the "predicate tense" (I don't know what that is): "First look for an elegant restaurant." It could take the preterite, but you'd need to know the subject of the sentence to know how to conjugate the verb: "First (I, you, he, she, it, we, or they) looked for an elegant restaurant."

There is no "predicate" tense. You assumed correctly " preterite" The "predicate" in any sentence is that part of the sentence that starts with the verb. in some sentences, it I S the verb. They don't teach English grammar anymore, I guess. - Daniela2041, Jul 29, 2015
