A Question About Negation and Infinitives

Forgive me if this question has been asked and answered or it seems rudimentary, but I honestly don't know..... I need some clarification.

Is it grammatically correct to insert "no" after a conjugated verb, basically negating the infinitive? Example: Espero no caerme

I have seen sentences like this and I wasn't sure if this was structurally correct. To me, it sounds odd...."Espero que (yo) no me caiga" sounds better, but I'm not sure because, in this sentence, I'm referring to myself... so instead of using "que," I have to use the infinitive.

Which way is correct?

Both ways are correct. I think the use of infinitive as opposed to subjunctive is a regional preference in this case - in Mexico the variant using subjunctive is more common, but the infinitive usage is not completely uncommon either.
