I am confused by the word 'nos' in this example.
'Nosotras nos abrazamos'
Could anybody explain to me not only the translation of this sentence but the actual purpose that 'nos' is providing within the sentence. In my very beginner state, I feel asthough 'Nosotras abrazamos' would be fine but if anybody would care to elaborate upon what 'nos' is really doing there, I would be very grateful.
Thanks.

I embrace you . (Yo) te abrazo
You embrace me. (Tu) me abrazas.
When i embrace you and you embrace me at the same time .then we embraced. (Nosotr@s) nos abrazamos.
When we(you and me) embraced to other people. For example Maria. (Nosotr@s) abrazamos a Maria. We embrace Maria Correct my english please
We embraced each other/ourselves
I did some reading and gathered that 'te, me, nos etc.' are pronouns which replace the indirect object in a sentence. So for the example 'Nosotras nos abrazamos', the indirect object would be the ladies receiving the embrace. I think the confusion occurred because they are also the actor of the action. Your statement 'When i embrace you and you embrace me at the same time. Then we embraced.' has helped me realise that 'Nosotras nos abrazamos' is basically saying 'We hug us'. Initially, this sounded almost contradictory but your statement helped me to put it into perspective. Thanks!
. Yes it is We hug us .
