There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1. Cometer errores y hacer locuras es parte de la juventud.

Making mistakes and doing crazy things is part of youth.

2. El estudio muestra que la juventud de hoy en día no se siente involucrada en la política.

The study shows that today's youth are not politically engaged.

Attacking Christians is no better than attacking homosexuals. It's hateful and boring and it is a bad example for the youth.

Atacar a los cristianos no es mejor que atacar a los homosexuales. Es odioso y aburrido y es un mal ejemplo para la juventud.

Cada generación de la juventud hace enemigos de sus padres, luego hijos se hacen padres con sus propios niños y la historia se repite...

Each generation of young folk makes enemies out of its parents, then children become parents with children of their own and history repeats itself...

En mi juventud, ya tan lejana, siempre me sentí segura de tener razón. Esto es la arrogancia de los jovenes, son sabelotodos. In my now distant youth, I was always certain that I was right. This is the arrogance of youth , youngsters are know- it -alls.

There is a French saying "si jeunesse savait, si vieillesse pouvait" -If youth but knew, if age but could." meaning that nothing ever occurs at the proper time in life. The youth lack the wisdom and the old age lack the strenght.

Hay un refrán francés "si jeunesse savait, si vieillesse pouvait" - Si la juventud supiera, si la vejez pudiera". significa que nada ocurre en el momento oportuno en la vida. La juventud le falta la sabiduria y la vejez le falta la fuerza

Me pregunto lo que los hijos de la juventud de hoy van a poder inventarse para escandalizar a sus padres cuando llegue el momento.

I wonder what the children of today's youth are going to be able to come up with to shock their parents when the time arrives.

En los años sesenta, la juventud se rebeló en contra del autoritarismo y del sistema, y luchó en favor de la liberación de la mujer y de los derechos de las minorías, en casi todos los países del hemisferio occidental.

In the sixties, the youth rebelled against the authoritarianism and the establishment, and rallied for women's lib and the rights of minorities, in most countries of the Western world.

sólo es un período transitorio y no un destino.
