There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

'Cliffhanger' es una palabra inglesa que se traduce al español como 'relato de suspenso' mientras en realidad la palabra debe su origen a una situacíon verdadera donde hay que agarrarse a un acantilado. En películas de suspenso antiguas al fin de cada capítulo algo de gran riesgo ocurrió, por ejemplo cuando alguién se cayó de un acantilado...

'Cliffhanger' is an English word that translates into Spanish as 'relato de suspenso' (tale of suspense) while in reality the word owes its origin to a real cliffhanger type of situation. In old thriller films at the end of each chapter something very risky would occur, for example when someone fell off a cliff...

Nunca he hecho los últimos pocos capítulos de mi libro de ejercicios de verbos españoles, porque cuando llegué a esos capítulos, había aprendido lo suficiente que la estructura de las frases me parecía ser demasiado simple, sólo un ejercicio de conjugar los verbos correctamente, y decidí que sería mejor practicar aquí en lugar de eso.

I never have done the last few chapters of my Spanish verb exercise book, because when I got to those chapters, I had learned enough that the structure of the sentences seemed to me to be too simple, only an exercise in conjugating the verbs correctly, and I decided that it would be better to practice here instead of doing that.

The same nouns can be used in a non-partitive or generic/inclusive way and then they would usually require articles in Spanish. - DilKen, Jun 10, 2015

Dani: definite (and indefinite) article usage/omission is a challenge for me (en esp). When I in doubt I usually put them in. Omission with partitive nouns is new for me, but it helps me a lot to understand when they are not used when I would expect them. - DilKen, Jun 10, 2015

Today there was a new chapter in the story of SpanishDict, a face-to-face meeting between two SD friends who were previously only on the internet. Today annierats and I met in Sevilla. We had a good time together. We went for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, we had lunch in a café and we went exploring the Barrio de Santa Cruz. Thank you, Annie, for coming to Sevilla to meet me!

Ahora que SD está entrando en un capítulo nuevo, un capítulo donde hay menos dependencia del internet y mas intercambio de experiencias personales y donde podemos quedar en el mundo real . Este cuesta más dinero pero de verdad resulta bastante más interesante.

Now SD is starting a new era, one in we will be less dependent on the interent and there will be more exchanges of personal experiences and where we will be able to meet in the real world. This costs more money, but truly, it's a lot more interesting.
