There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. In English we have two sayings that go well together: He/she is no oil-painting, but handsome is as handsome does. I don't know if this makes sense in Spanish, nor what Spanish speakers would really say.
An example situation for this saying is this: A plain horse has won a big race and you will hear these sayings muttered by the spectators as they throw away their losing betting slips.
En inglés tenemos dos dichos que van muy bien juntos : No es como una pintura al oleo pero él que hace las cosas bien, se ve guapo. No sé si esto tiene sentido en español y tampoco lo que dicen los hispanohablantes de verdad.
Un ejemplo de una situación donde se puede oír la frase es este: :
Un caballo bastante feo ha ganado una gran carrera y se oyen las frases entre los apostadores tirando sus billetes de apuesta al suelo.
Hoy quería visitar el Museo Nacional del Prado para ver la collección enorme de pinturas, pero porque estoy viajando con otros, incluso una niña de un año, es difícil ser organizada, y no hubo tiempo. Espero que pueda ir en la mañana.
