Accenting letter

How do you know when to accent a letter in spanish? I asked a friend and they said to just memorize when to do it. Is there any other way???

hi - I assume you mean in Spanish. Spanish is very logical and there are a set of rules. When an accent is needed in a different place a tilde is added.
I see you have done some lessons and some flashcards so maybe you feel able to add on your profile your level of Spanish and English.
Today I have answered someone's question about pronunciation and on the answer have linked to some pieces about accents.
Give them a read and if you are still unclear look on the site or ask another question.
