Imperative Direct Objects

Hello!

I would like to know if you change the lo or la used at the end of a verb conjugated in the imperative based on gender of the noun it is replacing. In the specific scenario from which this question arose, I was giving someone an old racquet and wanted to say "Enjoy It". I know raqueta is feminine so would that require me to say Disfrútala or Disfrútalo?

¡Muchas Gracias!

I believe that you should use:

Disfrútala.. if the object pronoun is standing in for or replacing a feminine noun or...

Disfrútalo.... if the obect pronoun is being used to replace a masculine noun.

Please remember that direct object pronouns can be added to the end of:

the infinitive form of verbs, eg: Me gustaria comprarlo (el libro)

= I would like to buy it!

Imperatives: ¡Hazlo ahora mismo! = Do it right now!

Gerunds: Practicándolo, aprenderás

= You will learn by practising it! wink

I hope this helps smile
