There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile
.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

1. El hidrógeno es uno de los gases más ligeros.

Hydrogen is one of the lightest gases.

2. El jugador no es muy fuerte, pero es bastante ligero.

The player isn't very strong, but he's very agile.

Me gustaría decir que yo sea muy ligero en el piso de bailar, pero en realidad me parece como un pollo loco.

I would like to say that I am very agile on the dance floor, but I really seem like a crazy chicken.

It is very good to travel light, but in my opinion it is possible when you are young

Unfortunately, I am no lighter today than I was yesterday.

Con correcciones:

Cinco amigos fueron a comer algo ligero a un nuevo restaurante en la ciudad, y pidieron sólo tres bocadillos con queso y tomate, y tres cervezas pequeñas ¡pero se quedaron (o se dejaron) pasmado cuando el camarero les trajo la cuenta porque les costaron más de doscientos cincuenta euros! ¡Cuando se quejaron al gerente, les dijo que la mayor parte de la cuenta era para pagar la vista exclusiva! wink

Five friends went to eat a light snack in a new restaurant in the city, and they only ordered three cheese and tomato sandwiches and three small beers but they were stunned (shocked) when the waiter brought them the bill because It cost them more than two hundred and fifty euros! When they complained to the manager, he told them that the greater part of the bill was to pay for the exclusive view! wink

Mil gracias por tus correcciones, a tiempo smile

Editor's note/s: The word ligero is highlighted solely because it is the Spanish Word of the day, and not because I made a mistake with this word lol ! wink / ¡He subrayado la palabra ligero sólo porque es la Palabra española del día y no porque cometí un error con esta palabra! Lol wink

Viajar ligero de equipaje tiene muchas ventajas. Una de ellas es que se puede entrar y salir del aeropuerto más rápidamente.

Travelling light has many advantages. One of them is that you can go in and out of the airport more quickly.

Estoy planeando correr un maratón, por eso estoy con una dieta ligera y un programa de ejercicio pesado. No me gusta este régimen, voy a abandonarlo lo más pronto que pueda.

Tómalo a la ligera.

I'm planning to run in a Marathon, because of this I'm on a light diet and a heavy exercise program. I don't like this management at all and I'm going to get out of it as soon as possible.

Don't take this too seriously.

Me gustaría viajar ligero de equipage en mi viaje a España, pero voy a estar allí por un mes, y todo el tiempo estoy pensando en que más debería llevar. Lo que suele occurir es que no uso la mitad de las cosas, ¡pero no sé cuál mitad para dejar en casa!

I would like to travel light in my trip to Spain, but I am going to be there for a month, and all the time I am thinking of more things I should take. What usually happens is that I don't use half of the things, but I don't know which half to leave at home!
