Spanish and Italian connection for towel.

Toalla is Spanish for towel and in Italian the word for towel is asciugamano. I had heard that there is a Spanish variation of asciugamano that also means towel. Does anyone know?

No, I tried to find something but I can only come up with lienzo or paño. Toalla de manos seems to be what the Italian is saying. In Swedish we say ' handduk' hand-cloth, much the same thing.

Hello Warren,

Welcome to the SpanishDict forum smile

I have just bought a Vox Spanish/Italian dictionary app for my phone, which I was planning to purchase anyway as I am going on holiday to Italy this year and taking Italian classes, as a beginner, with a native teacher from Tuscany through the language website called: Verbling.

I looked up the very same Italiano word: asciugamano nf and although it gave me the Spanish word toalla nf it didn't offer me any alternative Spanish word similar to this Italian word; only toalla in Spanish!

You didn't mean the word: asciugacapelli, did you? This means (a) hair dryer = secador de pelo (Sp) wink

I can ask my Italian teacher Chiara, if you like, to see if she has heard of one as she speaks both these languages fluently! wink

I hope this helps smile
