There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile
.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Instructions for posting a picture

Examples:

.

1. Devolví los pantalones a la tienda porque no me quedaban bien.

I returned the pants to the store because they didn't fit me well.

2. Te puedo prestar una pluma, pero esta vez devuélvemela, ¿está bien?

I can lend you a pen, but return it to me this time, okay?

I walk in the opposite direction until I find myself again. I'm not sure why you use Caminnar here instead of Camino. - DilKen, May 3, 2015
Gracias por la observación compañero, lo que había hecho era una frase, esto es una oración. :) - crucesignatus, May 3, 2015
I will walk in the opposite direction until I find myself again or I will walk in the opposite direction in order to find myself upon returning. I like the 1st version better and it seems like a very good translation of the Spanish to me. - DilKen, May 3, 2015

Joseph and Mary returned to Bethlehem when Caesar Augustus ordered a census. There, Jesus was born.

Don't forget the "redundant" "le" which should be attached to "devolver". Most English speakers, including some in my class, forget to. - Daniela2041, May 3, 2015

Qué gran idea , devolver bien por mal, pero no es muy probable, el caracter humano generalmente contradice esto .

What great idea, return good for evil, but it is not very likely, human character usually contradicts this.

No es posible devolverles a nuestros padres el cuidado que nos dieron en el pasado. La mejor cosa que podemos hacer es dar buen cuidado a la generación próxima.

It is not possible to return to our parents the care that they gave us in the past. The best thing we can do is to give good care to the next generation.

Nos olvidamos de devolver las llaves cuando salimos del hotel ayer como ya que el recepcionista no nos las pidió, pero supongo que no importa mucho como son tarjetas llave no importa mucho.

We forgot to give back the keys when we left the hotel yesterday since the clerk did not ask us for them, but I suppose that it does not matter much as they are key cards.

Bosque yesterday I told you that you can use 'pero como' to sound more natural and I see that you used it twice in this sentence, - Pablo064, May 4, 2015
in the first case you don't have 'pero' so it doesn't work 'hotel ayer 'ya que' el recepcionista' but in the second case you have 'pero' but you put 'como' far from it and they have to go together so you could say: - Pablo064, May 4, 2015
'pero como son tarjetas llaves no importa mucho' :D - Pablo064, May 4, 2015

En los últimos días he viajado tanto que he perdido el sentido del tiempo y no puedo decir si hoy sea sábado o domingo o quizá miercoles. Espero que, con el paso del tiempo regrese mi ritmo cotidiano.

In the last few days I have travelled so much that I have lost my sense of time and I can't say if today might be Saturday, Sunday, or maybe Wednesday. I hope that, with the passage of time, my daily rhythm will return.
