There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile
.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1. Sofía estuvo muy agradecida por todos los regalos de cumpleaños que recibió.

Sofia was very grateful for all of the birthday presents she received.

2. Intento ser agradecido por lo que tengo, y no pensar en lo que no.

I try to be grateful for what I have, and not think about what I don't.

Hay tantas cosas por las que estar agradecido. Por ejemplo, vivir en un país donde no hay una guerra, una hambruna o un disastre natural.

There are so many things to be grateful for. For example, to live in a country where there is no war, famine or natural disaster.

En los tiempos de dificultades muchas veces es difícil ser agradecido por las cosas que tengas.

In times of dificulty many times it is hard to be thankful for the things that you have.

Tengo vergüenza de no darle nunca las gracias a mi dios nuevo, el todopoderoso y sabelotodo Señor Google. Soy una mujer desagradecida e ingrata.

I'm ashamed of never thanking my new God, the allpowerful and allknowing Lord Google. I'm an ungrateful woman.

Estoy muy agradecida por todo lo que Dios me ha otorgado: mi hijo, mi familia (los papás de Daniel) y sus hermanos con sus esposas ,mis sobrinos, mi trabajo, mis amigos en el mundo real y mis amigos en el mundo virtual.

I am very grateful for all that God has granted me: my son, my family, Daniel's mom and dad, his brothers with their wives, my nephews, my work, my friends in the real world and my friends in the virtual world.

I think that "The Greatful Dead" is plural in the English. Por eso en español no sería mejor "Los Muertos Agradecidos"? - Daniela2041, Apr 28, 2015
You are right, Daniela. I didn't kwnow that the name is in plural. What is the singular name then? - LuisCache, Apr 28, 2015
The name "The Grateful Dead" is singular and plural, but the way you know it's plural is because it's the name of a group of persons. - Raja-jani, Apr 28, 2015
