A spanish word for Venue

We rent offices in Mexico but we haven't found a good word to use instead of venue There are words like:

Lugar, is to broad it's just like place Edificio: is too specific, means building

This is a sample phrase:

The convention is going to take place in Puebla, the selected venues are The Marriott Hotel and the Downtown Convention Center. We have not selected yet the venues for next years convention

How about sitio (=lugar) = place or venue? Or if not, what about the word locación.?

You can use the word lugar in certain contexts if you are looking for a single word but you cannot always do this!

= There's (There has) been a change of venue.

In regard to your passage, I would use the verbal construction tener lugar to translate to take place:

'Word for word' literal translations between languages are seldom accurate or effective at communicating the desired message! wink

I hope this helps : )
