Spanish slangs

Question

Are there any common Spanish slangs? Is it different from place to place or is one slang understandable for all of the native Spanish speakers? For example, in Swedish we say "ba" instead of "bara" because of our laziness. If the slag is regional, please enlighten me about which place we are talking about!

Slang is indeed regional. We might or might not understand words they use in other places, some words are easy to understand because of the context and some others we've already heard because of exposure (TV, internet, music, etc) Though I've came across words I had no idea what they meant and I've had to look them up! For example, the word "ruco". I've a mexican friend who used this word once, and I didn't know that it meant "old".

That's a definite yes, however, you might be in for a surprise if you haven't figured out that Spanish is spoken in more than ten countries and each of them have a different accent and slang.
