There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

.

Guidelines:

.

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Instructions for posting a picture

.

Examples:

1. Mi esposa está embarazada con mellizos.

My wife is pregnant with twins.

2. Siempre se le debe ofrecer un asiento a una mujer embarazada en el metro.

You should always offer a seat to a pregnant woman on the metro.

Cuando la madre de Blancanieves estaba embarazada se pinchó el dedo bordando y una gota de sangre cayó a la tela blanca. Viendo eso la reina deseaba tener una niña con cara blanca, labios rojos como la sangre y cabello negro como el bastidor para bordar. Y así nació Blancanieves

When the mother of Snow White was pregnant pricked her finger embroidering and a blood drop fell on to the white cloth. Seeing that, the queen wanted to have a girl with white face, red lips as the blood and black hair as the frame to embroider . And thus Snow White was born.

Muchas veces hablantes de inglés confusan la palabra embarazada con la palabra "embarassed" en inglés. Ésta conduce a situaciones vergonzosas.

Many times English speakers confuse the word "embarazada" with the word "embarrassed" in English. This leads to embarrassing situations.

¿Cuántos meses tienes de preñada/embarazo amiga? Tengo 3 meses. Ah, pues felicidades. Sí gracias. Sabes que? Cuando nazca mi bebé le voy a llevar en un rebozo que voy a tejer. Oye, pero ¿qué le vas a poner de nombre? Buena pregunta, ni sé.

How many months are you pregnant? I have 3 months. Congratulations. Thank you. You know what? When my baby is born I'm going to knit a rebozo for him and carry him in it. Hey, but what name are you going to give him? Good question, I don't know.

in mexico you say rebozo, but in south America you say aguayo

Me da pena que hoy en día hay tantas parejas que no puedan tener hijos sin tratamiento artificial. En la época lejana de mi juventud, una mujer solo tenía que mirar a un hombre atractivo para quedarse embarazada de trillizos.

I'm sad that these days there are so many couples that can't have children without medical help . In my distant youth a woman only had to look at a handsome man to become pregnant with triplets.
