Using "crecerse" for growing up

Using "crecerse" for growing up

On the Pimsleur course I am learning with, they use "me crié en ......." to say "I grew up in ......". However, I can find no version of this conjugation, only "me crecí" or "me crecía". Can someone please help me with this? Thanks.

It is from "criar" = to raise, or to breed., or to rear.

The pronominal version is "criarse" = to grow up. "Me crié" is the preterite tense.

Thanks so much! I had the wrong verb to start with. That now makes sense. Brilliant. - ukali, Apr 22, 2015

I don't think 'me crecí' is used correctly.

me crié en - I grew up in....
crecí en - I grew up in ('me crecí en' does not mean 'I grew up in' but something like 'I increased in')

At least that's my take on things.
