Pasatiempo or hobby?
Hey, just wonder which one to use in spain or can both be used? And is pasatiempo the Argentinian way to say it? Thanks.

Pasatiempo is the correct Spanish word and hobby is the English word that certain people may use in various countries. From my experience, it´s not so much a matter of which country but of which group of people who think it´s trendy to occasionally insert an English word into a Spanish conversation. You should also keep in mind that to be understood you should pronounce these English words with a Spanish accent. You can never go wrong by using the original Spanish word.
This is the way I see it. I realize there may be differences of opinion.
A hobby is something you spend a lot of time at like a stamp or coin collection. To me this una "afición" Soy aficionada al Karate.--y también la guitarra.
A pass time is something you do to pass the time enjoyably. Un pasatiempo.
Como pasatiempo me gusta leer libros, jugar al ajedrés, ver la tele, pasear en bici, etc.
