Casero ( kah-sehr'-oh )

adjective ( homemade, household; home-loving )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

enter image description here

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Instructions for posting a picture

Examples:

1. El pan casero de mi abuela es mejor que lo que se puede encontrar en una panadería.

My grandmother's homemade bread is better than what you can find in a bakery.

2. Mi novia es muy casera. No le gusta ir a muchas fiestas.

My girlfriend is very home-loving. She doesn't like to go to a lot of parties.

Notes:

The adjective "casero" is often translated into the noun "homebody" in the United States.

Esta palabra me recordé recuerda que tengo un número de cintas de vídeo caseras sin etiqueta que tengo que ver para determinar si hay algunas que tienen valor, pero la verdad es que no sé si la única videocasetera que queda tiene una conexión con el está conectada al televisor, después de que mi hija se mudó de casa y tomó la videocasetera buena con todos los vídeos de Disney.

This word reminded me that I have a number of homemade video cassette tapes without labels that I have to view to determine whether any of them have value, but the truth is that I don’t know if the only video cassette player that remains is connected to the television, after my daughter moved out and took the good video cassette player with all the Disney videos.

Las mejores frutas y verduras son caseras. Así que ya sabes no fueron envenenados por los pesticidas.

The best fruits and vegetables are home grown. That way you know they haven't been poisoned by pesticides.

You forgot that frutas and verduras are feminine. So, a few changes are necessary. - Daniela2041, Apr 14, 2015
They are also plural---so "fueron---" I would probably use "han sido" I use the Pres. Perfect a lot more than most. I guess it's a Spanish thing. - Daniela2041, Apr 14, 2015
But "fueron" is still correct. - Daniela2041, Apr 14, 2015
Especialmente los tomates :-)! - Jraider, Apr 14, 2015
other option..de esa manera ya sabes que no fueron envenenadAs... :) - Pablo064, Apr 14, 2015
might one have to put something on some of the fruits and veggies to ward off pests? - Sassette, Apr 14, 2015
I agree...if one can do it. - rac1, Apr 14, 2015

looks sooo good. "rebuena" is a new word for me. Thanks from cramming another word into my brain. - Sassette, Apr 14, 2015

@Jim. You got it right. "Patatas" is peninsular. (How's that for a fancy word for "Spain Spanish?) - Daniela2041, Apr 14, 2015
Peninsular, I like that, Daniela. I'm more familiar with hearing "papas" because around here, we have many more people from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic than people from Spain. - jim5489, Apr 15, 2015

Cuando mi hermano era niño, un día intentó hacer el perfume casero de pétalos de rosa pero los dejó al sol durante muchas horas y olieron muy mal.
