There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

enter image description here

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

1. Ella es tan quieta cuando medita que parece que está durmiendo.

She is so still when she meditates that it looks like she's sleeping.

2. El mar está quieto hoy, perfecto para salir en el bote.

The sea is calm today, perfect for going out on the boat.

Ayer me caí sobre unas piedras cuando dí una vuelta con Wolfie y ya me duela la rodilla. Como sopla un levante fuerte no me importa, estoy quedandome quieta en casa, arreglando mi estantería de Ikea.

Yesterday I fell over on some stones when I took Wolfie for a walk and now my knee hurts. As there is a strong wind from the east blowing I don't mind, I'm staying quietly indoors sorting out my Ikea shelves.

Hay que deshacerse de la mente de mono, que está llena de balbuceos,

necesitamos un tiempo de tranquilidad para meditar.

Soy afortunado estoy quieto siempre, bueno casi siempre.

We must get rid of the monkey mind, which is full of babbling,

we need a quiet time to meditate.

I am lucky I am always quiet , well almost always. wink

Odio el ruido de una televisión en un lugar público. Actualmente hay TVs en las tiendas, el gimnasio, las salas de espera de los hospitales, el médico, el dentista, incluso en algunos restaurantes. Usualmente nadie está mirandola. Creo que está muy mal. Pronto, el uníco lugar para está tranquila será en casa. No es posible estar quieto con eso ruido.

I hate the noise of a television in a public place. These days there are TVs in shops, the gym, the waiting rooms of hospitals, the doctor, the dentist, even in some restaurants. Usually, nobody is watching it. I think it is very bad. Soon, the only place in which to be quiet will be at home. It is not possible to be calm with that noise.

Para los introvertidos unos momentos quietos solo de quietud y soledad valen mucho y los animan, Pero para los extrovertidos están estos son insoportables.

For introverts a few quiet moments alone are worth a lot and energizes them. But for extroverts they are unbearable.

Con las correcciones de Falcop no puedo usar la palabra del día "quieto" pero acepto su aviso y cambio la oración (sin embargo gracias, amigo).

¿Has leido el libro "Quique el inquieto quetzal?" Inquieto es el contrario de quieto.

Have you read the book "Quique the restless quetzal?" Restless is the opposite of calm.
