There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

enter image description here

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. Remember those who arrive late smile

Rac, photos come up, prior to publish, but click publish, and no photo, just the code. I use photobucket, which has become very commercial, the fault may be the photobucket end, very frustrating! - annierats, Apr 4, 2015

Estoy harta de los procesiones de Semana Santa. Los periódicos no publican otras cosas que fotos de las procesiones de Sevilla, de Jaen, pues, de toda España y en todas las fotos hay un cristo muerto y ensangrentado y niños vestidos en ropa similar a la del Ku Klux Klan, para mi una visión espantosa que me da escalafríos.

I'm fed up with the Easter processions. The newspapers publish nothing but photos of the processions, from Seville, from Jaen, well, from all over Spain an in every photo there is a dead Jesus dripping blood, and children dressed in clothes similar to those of Ku Klux Klan, a frightening sight that makes me shiver.

The point being, one of these papers pretty much thinks that he can walk on water. The other would like to attach a 100 pound stone to his ankle when he tries to walk on water. So, you can guess a person's political opinion by what paper they are reading - jim5489, Apr 4, 2015

Many things happen in the world and, in my opinion, we do not provide them the appropriate significance, especially in the newspapers by "how" good or bad they are.

En el mundo suceden muchas cosas a las que en mi opinión no les damos la debida importancia, especialmente en los periódicos por muy buenos o malos que sean.

Esta mañana leí un artículo en el periódico sobre alguien que envió treinta y tres centavos de bitcoin a Edward Snowden, y luego retó al gobierno a detenerle por desafiar la orden presidencial. Me resultó interesante que hay haya personas que saben sepan expresar sus opiniones políticas sin detonar bombas y asesinar personas.

This morning I read an article in the paper about someone that sent thirty-three bitcoin cents to Edward Snowden, and then challenged the government to arrest him for defying the presidential order. I found it interesting that there are people who know how to express their political opinions without detonating bombs and killing people.

Like the legend of salsa said in his song, "Your love is like yesterday's newspaper. That nobody wants to read anymore." (Hector Lavoe)

Desde que era joven, casi todo los días he leido un periódico que se llama "La Epóca". Por muchos años fue el mejor periódico en Australia, pero ahora se ha hecho más pequeño y tiene menos periodistas debido al internet. La gente no quiere pagar por noticias porque hay mucha información gratis en el internet. Ahora "La Epóca" tiene menos artículos interesantes y más sobre "estilo de vida". Eso me pone triste.

Since I was young, almost every day I have read a newspaper called "The Age". For many years it was the best newspaper in Australia, but now it has become smaller and has fewer journalists because of the internet. People don't want to pay for news because there is a lot of information for free on the internet. Now, "The Age" has fewer interesting articles and more about "lifestyle". I an sad about this.

Con correcciones:

Recientemente para mis deberes de francés, tuve que traducir del francés al inglés, un artículo en el periódico francés que se llama 'le Figaro' . El artículo fue escrito por Maurin Picard, ¡y se trataba del hecho de que Barak Obama le pidía al Congreso de Los Estados Unidos la 'luz verde' para luchar contra Isis.

Recently I had to translate an article in the French newspaper ' called, 'Le Figaro' from French to English for my French homework. The article was written by Maurin Picard and dealt with (was about) the fact that Barack Obama was asking for the 'green light' from Congress to fight against Daech (Isis)!

Corrijan mi español, por favor smile

Editor's note: The article's heading is/was: ?Obama demande le feu vert du Congrès contre Daech.?
