fueron o eran?

I'm working on my Spanish project, and in the sentence: "Hay muchas historias sobre dónde y cuándo Piña coladas fueron encontrar," is fueron correct? or do I use eran instead? I assumed it was the preterite tense because Pina Coladas are supposed to be found only once; so, single completed action. However, there are multiple stories about where it was found, so I'm not sure if it should be eran instead

Fueron encontradas. (Passive construction) Watch gender endings. You are correct in assuming that the piña coladas were found once even though there are may stories about them.

¡Salud!

"many stories ". I know for a fact that there is a 'piña colada mine in the area of Mulu in Sarawak Borneo . I stayed at a "guesst House" where the owner had an underground store of them , his wife was a minor . - ray76, Mar 30, 2015
