There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes .

Please encourage everyone with a vote. Remember those who arrive late. smile .

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game. .

1. Después del mal año de la empresa, el presidente dimitió de su puesto.

After the company's bad year, the president resigned from his position.

2. ¿Puedes creer que alguien se estacionó en mi puesto en el estacionamiento?

Can you believe that someone parked in my space in the parking lot? .

Happy Sunday smile

Mi vecina está muy puesta en temas de actualidad, igual a como/era fue mi papá, por leyendo los diarios.

My neighbor is well up on current events, just like my dad was, by reading the daily newspapers.

Are they outside? If so, ' open space' sounds better, perhaps. The dog looks a little nervous. - annierats, Mar 29, 2015
yes, they are outside, ok thank you Annie :) - crucesignatus, Mar 29, 2015
It doesn't sound natural though. Better, "playing outside"... To use the word of the day, perhaps..."playing in a space next to the house" ....something like that. - rac1, Mar 29, 2015
To say "playing in the open space" will make one think, "What open space" ? Do you see what I mean? - rac1, Mar 29, 2015
the garden, sorry :) - crucesignatus, Mar 29, 2015
That's good...then you can change your sentence to, "playing in the open garden space." :):) - rac1, Mar 29, 2015
tahk you Rac, my english is very bad :) - crucesignatus, Mar 30, 2015
Actually, your English is very good, falcop. :) - rac1, Mar 30, 2015

Mis puestos me exigen mucho.

My positions require much of me.

Infante de Marina (la reserva) y profesora de universidad.

Marine (reserves) and university professor.

THIS IS AN EDIT:

For those who wanted to see the Israeli girl that looks like me, here she is.

Cuando era miembro de la Armada, me mandaron a cuatro puestos, pero todos los puestos estaban en el sur de California, y los primeros tres estaban en San Diego, así que no tuve que mudarme para estos.

When I was a member of the Navy, they sent me to 4 posts, but all the posts were in Southern California, and the first three were in San Diego, as such I did not have to move for those ones.

who knows where you would have moved to if you had stayed on. You probably would've ended up in Detroit. (I hope nobody's from Detroit here...I may have to dish out apologies. O,k., I'll do it now...Detroit's a wonderful place to be, sorry) - Sassette, Mar 29, 2015
I don't remember Detroit being anywhere they offered me. Chicago yes, but not Detroit. ;) - bosquederoble, Mar 30, 2015

Tengo muchos amigos en puestos bajos y es mejor así. Pero de verdad no tomamos demasiado como en la canción.

I have many friends in low places and it's better like that. But we really don't drink too much like in the song.

Después de muchas entrevistas finalmente a Juan le fue ofrecido un puesto. Para entonces, estaba tan harto de entrevistas que no le importaba qué tipo de trabajo era.

After many interviews finally John was offered a position. By then he was so sick of interviews that he didn't care what kind of work it was.
