Your sentence is in fact very poetic.
The country is divided into a bunch/a string of uninhabited islands and foamy mist.
Hmmm, I am sure a native can make something out of this.....

Hola Robert, it's hard to understand a very poetic phrase, I can do it as spanish speaker, but i dont want left a confuse translation, please be patient for it.
We sugest that be clear in the post title will do more attractive to others.
