There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes. .

enter image description here .

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game. .

Instructions for posting a picture

Examples:

1. Cuidado que el bebé no ponga los juguetes en la boca.

Be careful that the baby doesn't put the toys in his mouth.

2. La fuente del río Amazonas está en Perú, pero, ¿dónde está su boca?

The source of the Amazon river is in Peru, but where is its mouth? .

Hay panoramas en el mundo donde te quedas con la boca abierta. Uno de ellos es el panorama de castillos en Baviera.

There are panoramas in the world where you remain with the mouth open . One of them is the panorama of castles in Bavaria.

Mientras buscaba otra foto para colgar con una oración en este hilo hoy, me topé con esta foto de algunos tacos de pescado que hice hace unos años, la lo que se me hizo agua la boca agua- no recuerdo para qué la tomé, pero debido a que no puedo encontrar la otra foto, decidí usar esta.

While I was looking for another photo to post with a sentence on this thread today, I ran across this photo of some fish tacos that I made some years ago, which made my mouth water- I don't remember for what purpose I took it, but since I can't find the other photo, I decided to use this one.

Mi vecino es italiano y por la puerta de su casa hay una 'bocca della verità', una boca de verdad... Tengo miedo de lo que me preguntará con mi mano dentro de ella...

My neighbour is Italian and by the door of his house there's a 'bocca della verità', a mouth of truth... I'm afraid of what he'll ask with my hand inside it...

Hay un refrán que dice así: "En boca cerrada, no entran moscas." Pero algunas moscas sí son muy persistentes en sus esfuerzos.

There is a saying that goes like this: "Flies don't enter a closed mouth." But some flies are very persistent in their endeavors.

Si quieres quedarte casado hay que superar muchos problemas en la cama, uno de ellos puede ser el hábito de tu pareja de dormir boca arriba roncando como un cerdo.

If you want to stay married you have to overcome many problems in bed, one of which might be the habit of your partner of sleeping on his/her back, snoring like a pig.

Es mejor mantener la boca cerrada y parecer tonto para algunos de lo que lo es para abrirlo y quitar toda duda.

It's better to keep your mouth closed and appear dumb to some than to open it and remove all doubt.
