Hey there. I just started learning Español!

I have a simple question about gustar.

Nos ______ mucho salir de excursión los fines de semana.

I think it should be gusta because it refers to the verb "salir" not the noun "los fines de semana". But I'm not entirely sure about the answer. Should it be gustan? Thank you!

Yes, it should be gusta, not gustan, the infinitive salir is acting as a noun here:

The entire phrase: salir de excursión

Is the subject.

Los fines de semana is just a qualifier saying when you like to do it, but salir de excursión is what you like to do; it is what is pleasing to you to do.

It is pleasing to you (salir de excursión)- they may very well be pleasing to you (los fines de semana), but that is not what you are saying in the sentence.
