We are still looking for a Spanish corrector that would like to correct on a full time basis. If you are interested, please send me a pm.
Also, I would like to thank all those that have so graciously donated their time in helping us with the Spanish corrections. Cordobesa, Dani, Julian, Luis, tiempo_de_es, Jimmy, Gex-Thunderstrom, leumas11, txustaboy, LuisCache, FELIZ77, Jubilado, billygoat, annierats, Neox, Kiwi, Josuele, diagonx and anyone else that has helped. Hopefully, I haven't left anyone out.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.
Guidelines:
Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

No entiendo a las mujeres que creen que los hombres muy musculosos son calientes. Es obvio que cuanto más tiempo dedican a su cuerpo, menos tiempo queda para lo que está en la cabeza y ¿cómo podría eso ser atractivo?
I don't understand women who think very muscular men are hot. It is obvious that the more time they devote to their body, the less time remains for what's in their head and how can that be attractive?

En Colombia cuando querría tomar una ducha caliente, la casa tenía un calentador de agua eléctrico. Estuvo directamente sobre la alcachofa que salió de él y había un cable eléctrico del calefón (un cilindro pequeño) que conectó a un enchufe en la pared alto en la ducha. Me pareció un poco peligroso pero no escuché nunca de accidentes de electrocución. (Pero ahora acabo de escucharlo acá.)
In Colombia when I wanted to take a hot shower, the house had an electric water heater. It was located directly above the shower nozzle which came out of it and there was a wire from the water heater (a small cylinder) that connected to a plug in the wall high in the shower. It seemed a little dangerous to me but I never heard of any electrocution accidents. (But now I've just heard about it here.)

Cuando caliento algo congelado en el microondas, siempre hay partes que están más calientes que otras, y con frecuencia me quemo el paladar (cielo techo de la boca) cuando descubro una parte muy caliente- lo que típicamente sucede justo antes de ir al dentista- para que él pueda seguir creyendo que soy un idiota.
When I heat up something frozen in the microwave, there are always parts that are hotter than others, and often I burn the roof of my mouth (the hard palate) when I discover a very hot part- which typically happens just before I go to the dentist- so that he can continue believing that I am an idiot.

Aquí hemos tenido un verano no muy caliente. Aunque la temperatura media fue bastante alta, no hubo días con temperaturas de más de cuarenta grados. Por eso estoy agradecida. Odio las olas de calor.
