There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1. Los científicos piensan que pueden haber más de cien mil millones de galaxias en el espacio.

Scientists believe that there may be more than one hundred billion galaxies in space.

2. No hay espacio en mi maleta para los artículos de higiene. ¿Los llevas tú?

There's no space in my suitcase for the toiletries. Would you take them?

A veces a la hora de acostarse si estoy en mi cama pero no puedo dormir, imagino que estoy en una nave espacial durante un largo viaje, y a menudo me duermo...

Sometimes at bedtime if I'm in bed but can't sleep I imagine being in a spaceship atthe start of a long voyage, and often I fall asleep...

La mezcla Tang mezcla para beber fue anunciada como una bebida para los astronautas en el espacio. El segundo anuncio mostrado de debajo/abajo es un anuncio original desde de hace años.

Tang drink mix was advertised as a drink for the astronauts in space. The second ad shown below is an original ad from years ago.

Ths was a fun project to do. I believe most of you will be confused by my ad. And that's o.k. The most important point is that Tang Drink Mix was marketed as the drink for astronauts. Thanks for viewing. :-) - Sassette, Mar 2, 2015
@Tipa: Put "La mezcla" before "Tang" Most of the time in Spanish the noun goes first then the modifier. - Daniela2041, Mar 2, 2015
I wonder what happened to Tang? - rac1, Mar 2, 2015

Mi marido ya se ha jubilado. Aunque claro espero que vayamos a empezar una nueva época de nuestra vida juntos, no sé como voy a aprender a tolerar esa invasión de mi espacio personal. En este momento me falta soledad.

My husband has now retired. Although, of course I hope that we're going to start a new era of our lives together, I don't know how I'm going to learn to tolerate such an invasion of my personal space. Just now I miss being alone.

Entender de verdad el tamaño del universo es casi imposible, pero pensar en lo que existe más allá del borde del espacio es aún más difícil, y algunos creen que aunque el universo es finito, no tiene un borde, y se dobla a través de otra dimensión un poco semejante a una banda de Möbius.

To truly understand the size of the universe is almost impossible, but to thinks about what exists beyond the edge of space is even more difficult, and some think that although the universe is finite, it does not have a border, and doubles back on itself through another dimension a little like a Möbius strip.

excellent entry. I have the same thoughts. By the way, there's an idea that the universe can be folded which would make traveling from point A to point B short and quick. - Sassette, Mar 2, 2015
Tengo muchas ganas de viajar a través del tiempo. - annierats, Mar 2, 2015
And now others are saying maybe it has No limits. - rac1, Mar 2, 2015
The concept of true infinity is hard to comprehend, as is the concept of finiteness without edges, but if we leave a finite space with edges, the question is always, what is on the other side. - bosquederoble, Mar 2, 2015
Since one of our major theories says that time and distance are intertwined and may be experienced differently by different observers, and the other separates them but says things don’t have to always be anywhere, it is clear we do not understand space. - bosquederoble, Mar 2, 2015

Algunas personas piensan que después de haber arruinado la Tierra, podemos salir a vivir en otro lugar en el espacio. Para mí, esto es una idea loca, muy poco práctica. Lo que tenemos que hacer es limpiar la Tierra y aprender a vivir aquí en armonía con la naturaleza.

Some people think that after we have ruined the Earth we can leave to live somewhere else in space. To me this is a crazy idea, very impractical. What we have to do is to clean up the Earth and learn how to live here in harmony with Nature.
