Third person singular, direct object pronouns
"Lo/le detuvieron y lo/le llevaron a comisaría". Are the personal pronouns 'lo' and 'le' equally correct in this sentence. (The context in which I found the sentence gave 'lo' in each instance).

"Lo/le detuvieron y lo/le llevaron a comisaría".
They arrested him and they took him to the police station.
The action of both verbs are directly on the person, so that person is a direct object, and grammatically it should be "lo". I believe in some areas, leísmo is possible, and "le" can be used for a male person who is a direct object, and replace "lo". I do not use leísmo normally, so do not have a feel as to whether it would work here.
