Los Premios Goya son celebrados anualmente por la Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España para premiar a los mejores profesionales de cada una de las especialidades técnicas y creativas del sector del cine en España durante el año inmediatamente anterior. Además de estos premios, se hace entrega de un Goya de Honor como reconocimiento a toda una vida dedicada al cine.
El premio consiste en un busto en bronce del pintor Francisco de Goya realizado por el escultor José Luis Fernández. La elección de este nombre se debe, por una parte, a que se trata de un artista representativo de la cultura española y mundialmente conocido y, por otra, a que se trata de un nombre corto similar al de otros premios en otros países, como los Óscar en Estados Unidos, los César en Francia o los Bafta en Reino Unido.
Desde el 2011 la única condición para ser candidato a recibir un Goya es ser mayor de 16 años, cualquiera que sea su nacionalidad o lengua.
Este año la Gala de los Goya tuvo lugar el pasado 7 de febrero y la película “La isla mínima” del director Alberto Rodríguez se convirtió en la gran triunfadora de la noche alzándose con 10 premios de los 17 a los optaba, incluído el Goya a la mejor película.
“La isla mínima” nos sitúa en la España de comienzos de los 80 cuando dos policías son enviados a un remoto pueblo del sur, en las marismas del río Guadalquivir, para investigar la desaparición de dos chicas adolescentes. En una comunidad anclada en el pasado, tienen que enfrentarse no sólo a un cruel asesino, sino también a sus propios fantasmas.
Las otras 4 candidatas a mejor película fueron: “El niño”, “Loreak”, “Relatos Salvajes” y “Magical Girl”.

Goya Awards are held annually by the Academy of Arts and cinematographic Sciences of Spain to reward the best professionals in each of the technical and creative specialties in the field of cinema in Spain during the immediately preceding year. In addition to these awards, delivery of a Goya of Honor in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to the cinema was made.
The Prize consists of a bust in bronze of the painter Francisco de Goya, made by the sculptor José Luis Fernández. The choice of this name is because, on the one hand, that is a Spanish and worldwide known representative of culture artist and, on the other hand, is a short name that is similar to the other awards in other countries, such as the Oscars in the United States, the César in France or the Bafta in United Kingdom.
From 2011 the only condition to be candidate to receive a Goya is 16 years, anyone who regardless of their nationality or language.
This year the Gala de los Goya took place on February 7 and director Alberto Rodríguez film "The minimum island" became the big winner of the night rising with 10 awards from the 17 to chose, including the Goya for best film.
"The minimum island" puts US in the early 1980s Spain when two police officers are sent to a remote village in the South, in the marshes of the Guadalquivir River, to investigate the disappearance of two teenage girls. In a community rooted in the past, they have to face not only a cruel killer, but also his own ghosts.
The other 4 candidates for best picture were: "The child", "Loreak", "Wild stories" and "Magical Girl".
