Irregular Verbs in Preterite

Question

I need help with this: What is an ER verb that is Irregular in Preterite because it's missing accents in two forms/conjugations?

There are a group of verbs--there are 12 that I teach that use no accents in the preterite. They each have an irregular stem to which you attach an irregular ending. The good news is that all three classes of verbs ar, er, and ir have the same endings. There are more than the 12 I have given here. These are the most frequent ones.

Infinitive------------------------Irregular stem

Andar----------------------------anduv-

Estar --------------------------- estuv-

Tener--------------------------- tuv

hacer----------------------------hic- and hiz- before "o"

decir-----------------------------dij-

poner----------------------------pus-

poder----------------------------pud-

traer-----------------------------traj-

conducer-----------------------conduj-

traducer------------------------traduj--

saber---------------------------sup-

venir----------------------------vin

Haber--------------------------hub (Hmmm. It looks like I've got 13 of them)

The endings are as follows:

Yo--------e

tú---------iste

él/ella/Ud ---o

nosotros/as --imos

vosotros/as---isteis

ellos/as/Uds.---ieron (after "j" it's eron) Now all you have to do is attach endings to the stems.

Three examples:

Andar: anduve, anduviste, anduvo, anduvimos anduvisteis, anduvieron.

Venir: vine, viniste, vino, vinimos, vinisteis, vinieron.

Decir. dije, dijiste, dijo, dijimos dijisteis dijeron.

Dar, ver, ser, and ir also lack accents inte preterite. - Daniela2041, Feb 11, 2015

Ver is another verb with no accents in the Preterite.

Look in your Spanish book (or whatever learning tool you're using) for the verb poner. While you're there learn the conjugation of that verb. I hope this has helped you learn.
