We are currently looking for a corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a pm. In the meantime, please help each other as you are able.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

How to post a picture

Examples:

1. Eduardo le tiene miedo a las cucarachas.

Eduardo is afraid of cockroaches.

2. Los niños no sienten miedo cuando tienen a los padres cerca.

Children don't feel fear when their parents are nearby.

Notes:

Use the phrase "tener miedo" to talk about being afraid of something or someone.

Dicen que las películas de miedo no son aptas para niños pequeños., pero me parece que no son aptas para unos adultos, por ejemplo yo quedo asustada si me asusten.

Nunca he tenido miedo xxaxx de volar en xxunxx avión, pero suelo tener un poco de ansiedad de no llegar al aeropuerto con suficiente antelación y también de perder un vuelo de conexión, pero por lo menos, hoy, tomamos un vuelo directo.

I have never been afraid of flying in an airplane, but I usually have a little anxiety over not arriving at the airport sufficiently early and over missing a connecting flight as well, but at least, today, we are taking a direct flight.

"Fear not!" is considered a rather formal way of speaking but is appropriate for this context. Informally and more often we say to each other and to children, "Don't be afraid." No tengas tengan, tengáis miedo. - Jubilado, Jan 31, 2015
