Ambiguous taxi directions in Spanish
Hola! I am interested to know how you would deal with this travel situation. (Please use Latin American Spanish, if possible.) I have to give directions to a taxi driver to find a rural address. There is no street number or road name.
I want to say something like: "Head towards the town of St. Paulo." Or maybe: "It's along the road towards St. Paulo."
And then I need to say something like: "I will tell you when to turn."
Can anyone help? Gracias!

In the first sentence I would just say: Vamos hacia San Paulo.
I would say the second sentence as AnnRon did, but with le instead of te. In the Americas we are more formal than in Spain when we speak to strangers.
Dos kilometros antes del puente azul, gira a la derecha (y evita los carros de policia)...
Let's just say we would wish to avoid any 'imperial entanglements'...

I'm not a native speaker and know nothing of regional dialects, but I think the following might work: Vaya en dirección a San Paulo.Yo te diré cuando dar vuelta.
Maybe a native speaker will be along shortly and give you something better. Your chances of getting the kind of help you need are improved when you fill out your profile.
" Necesito ir al pueblo / a la ciudad de San Pablo. Se encuentra en la misma carretera yendo hacia San Pablo."
"Yo le digo/aviso cuando (tiene que) voltear"
In central america you just say " A St. Paulo ", or whatever the general direction is, no need to explain anything else... Then about 2 seconds before you need to turn, shout to the driver "a la izquierda por fa" if you wanna turn left.. and hopefully the taxi has good breaks ![]()
