How do Spanish cultures view English-speaking people?

Question

I use a site where I follow a few bilingual people who speak Spanish first and English second. They have done nothing wrong to me personally, but I sometimes see them being very rude to English-speakers who have not insulted them in any way. When the English-speakers tried to defend themselves, the Spanish-speakers just made jokes about them and insulted them in Spanish so they couldn't understand.

I'm getting increasingly fluent in Spanish and could understand most of what they were saying about English-speakers. The things they were saying were horrible, and I hated the way they were treating people just for not speaking Spanish, even if I speak it myself. I feel the same way about English-speakers who insult Spanish-speaking people.

It made me less enthusiastic about my own studies in Spanish, and it's a horrible feeling because I've been enjoying studying the language. I am wondering if it is common in Spanish cultures to look down on English-speakers this way? Do many people in Spanish cultures act like the Spanish people I met on this site, or were these people just a couple of bullies?

Tal como te ha contestado Leumas, en este mundo hay muchas personas diferentes, y has tenido la mala suerte de encontrar algunas de las peores. Son personas ignorantes que no entienden que conocer personas de otras culturas es una de las mejores cosas que hay en la vida.

Pero eso no es lo general. Si vienes a España o a otro país hispanohablante, verás como la mayoría de la gente será muy amable contigo, te ayudará en todo lo que pueda, y te admirará mucho por aprender nuestro idioma. Y si sigues con nosotros en el foro, verás que los hispanohablantes que estamos por aquí, no nos burlamos nunca de los angloparlantes (ni ellos de nosotros, claro).

Sí, en mi experiencia de la vida es cierto (verdad), Cordobesa, la mayoría de la gente hispanohablante es muy amistoso, amable y simpático y está dispuesto a ayudar a los angloparlantes aprender su estupendo idioma. :) :):) - FELIZ77, Jan 24, 2015

In my opinion Spanish speakers are no worse than English speakers when they talk about Spanish speakers. Don't pay too much attention to them.

En mi opinión los hispanohablantes no son peores que los angloparlantes cuando hablan de los hispanohablantes. No prestar demasiada atención a ellos.

Obviamente que no. En este loco mundo, hay de todo; tanto buenas como malas personas. Lamentablemente te topaste con algunas de la última clase que mencioné. Pero que esto no te desmotive a seguir perfeccionando tu nivel de Castellano. Por último, para serte sincero, efectivamente muchas personas creen que los estadounidenses son algo tontos, ya sabes por toda la basura que vende Hollywood, pero en fin, hay que ser lo suficientemente inteligente para darse cuenta que no es así, y que de hecho en todas partes hay todo tipo de gente.
