A Big "Thank You" For the Moderators

Question

Although I know that many of us already take the time to thank our beloved Moderators, they still don't get anywhere near the amount of recognition that they continuously earn day after day. It's a hard job keeping an entire website, especially one so special as SpanishDict, running smoothly.

And yet, without desire of praise or payment, our Mods keep volunteering their time and skills. They are the main force that keeps SpanishDict from disintegrating into a juvenile chat site, and we owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.

So please, join me now in telling them how thankful we are for all the time and energy that they invest in keeping this website afloat. Since just a general, Thank You!, wouldn't be nearly enough, I would like to thank each of the Moderators for doing their part in making SpanishDict a truly unforgettable place:

Ray76: You've been here at SpanishDict for longer than all but a few of us, and in that time have become the true "King" of SpanishDict. Your sharp Australian wit keeps us laughing, while your keen insights keep us thinking. I don't know what we would do without you!

Sir Ian-Hill: Your creativity is evident in everything you do, even in something as simple as your profile picture. You've been strict enough to keep me on track, but kind enough to become a true mentor. You don't tolerate any nonsense, but you are as just as quick to appreciate a good joke as the rest of us. You are undoubtedly one of the cornerstones of SpanishDict!

NikkiRivera: Although you haven't had the time to do quite as much as you used to, you are still just as vital a component as any other Mod. You used to provide a thousand different practice and learning threads, and you are still an invaluable resource. I have yet to find one of your answers that isn't immensely helpful, or doesn't provide a clear and direct answer to a question. Slight Edit: I've just been told that Nicki is no longer a Mod, but that doesn't change the fact she still helps out any time she can.

Rac1: And last, but certainly not least, is our beloved Amber. A compassionate soul such as yourself is a rare find, especially one as hard working as you are. As if juggling work and school wasn't enough, you sacrifice a tremendous amount of your free time dealing with troublemakers, encouraging new users, and coming up with new ideas to make SpanishDict better and better. Don't go leaving us anytime soon!

We've gained and lost a few Moderators over the years. Some resigned because of personal obligation, and a few just didn't have the time that they used to. But I'm proud to say, that the Mods we have now are just as hard-working and devoted as the ones we had at the beginning. Join me now in telling them...

Thanks to all the moderators, if it wasn’t for their hard work the site would without a doubt descend into a chaotic mess. I think they do an excellent job of keeping things fair, and maintaining the rules of the site with some common sense attached. I think we should remember that one of the ways of saying thanks is to follow those rules, and not make them have to spend their time instructing us on how we are supposed to behave.

I would really like to thank all of you moderators for doing such a wonderful job in maintaining this site so that it runs so smoothly...you all do a great job and we owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude for all that you do, especally considering that you do all this out the goodness of your hearts and receive no payment for any of it!

Very true, H C A. And thanks for bringing this up. Our moderators are the best! I am happy to see this group working together and keeping us on track here. We are like a family. We don't always agree, but we always try to work things out and this group of moderators are excellent at doing that. It is many times a thankless job, with long hours and no pay, but it's really great to see the site working so well. Keep it up Ray, Ian, Nikki and Amber. You are doing a wonderful job.
