Which phrase is grammatically correct?

I was wondering which phrase is grammatically correct, or if either were correct. Would it be correct to say "nada mas" or "no mas"? I want to know which one is correct, and not slang or anything. Could I just use either in any given situation or are either of the phrases better suited or certain situations. I ask because one of my spanish speaking friends said that "nada mas" was like the english equivalent of the grammatically incorrect "more better."

In addition to the above there is another use for "nada más" vs. "no más."

Nada más is used as a synonym for 'sólo" or solamente. I use it all the time.

Esta vez nada más voy a dar una respuesta corta. This time I am only going to give a short answer.

Many of my students who are of Mexican descent use "nomás" or "no más" instead. I understand that this is quite popular usage among Mexicans.

I am not the best with grammar but I would say they can both correct depending on how you use them.

¿Algo más? No, nada más.

¿Más fresco? No, no más.

I'm not sure but I would use "nada mas". I am not very good with grammar, though.
